Marie 'Mary' Ellen (Hubbell) Flees, 74, of Traverse City, passed away January 1, 2018 with her loving husband and daughter by her side.
Mary was born July 7, 1943 to the late John and Marie (DuCheney) Hubbell in Traverse City. Mary was one of four children.
On July 2, 1971 Mary married Edward, the love of her life.
Mary was the definition of selfless and caring. She spent many years rehabilitating animals from deer to hummingbirds and all in between. Her passion for the outdoors and her desire to help animals was most notably what Mary was most known for. She was The Mother Nature of the Boardman River area and her little oasis for them to be.
In the mid 80's Mary volunteered for a number of years in the doula program. It was a real calling for her. In addition to her enjoyment with the program, she also unconditionally loved her Schnauzers. Mary always believed them to be an extension of her family.
Mary is survived and missed dearly by her husband, her daughter Michelle Perkins, Sister Pamela Teixeira and Brother David (Melissa 'Missy') Hubbell. She is also survived and missed by her nephews and nieces; Travis (Emily), Robin (Rob) and Dustin.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her brother Jack Hubbell and three infants.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place Saturday January 13, 2018 at the St. Francis Catholic Church at 11:00am with visitation and greetings one hour prior.
