Vicki Lynn Verschaeve, 60, of Maple City passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on July 29, 2017 following a 15-month battle with cancer. Vicki was born on December 9, 1956 to John and Virginia (Sharnowski) Marach. She married the love of her life, Brian (Butch) Verschaeve, on May 15, 1976 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Cedar, Michigan.
Vicki worked as the office manager at B&Z Well Drilling in Maple City for over 26 years. Prior to that, she had worked in banking on and off while raising her family. She was also a talented baker and cake decorator. Vicki started her cake business, Creative Delights, several years ago and made numerous wedding, birthday, graduation, and shower cakes for events throughout the area.
Vicki's greatest passion and what she was most proud of was her family. She and Butch raised four sons and gained four daughters when each married. She adored her nine grandchildren and spoiled them immensely. During the summer spending time in her garden and at Bright Lake with her family were her favorite things to do. In the winter, her and Butch looked forward to cruising to tropical destinations.
Vicki is survived by her husband, Brian Verschaeve; her mother Virginia Marach; her sister Anita (Mike) Groulx; four sons; Robert (Katie) Verschaeve, Matthew (Anne) Verschaeve, Adam (Christina) Verschaeve, and Thomas (Rachel) Verschaeve; her grandchildren Avery, Ethan, Ella, Amelia, Owen, Nora, Dane, John, and Luke. Also surviving are her father and mother in law Charles and Evelyn Verschaeve; and many brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews. Vicki was preceded in death by her father, John Marach.
Friends are welcome to visit with Vicki's family on Wednesday, August 2, 2017 from 4-7 pm, with a scripture service led at 7pm at Holy Rosary Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday August 3, 2017 at 11:00 am with visitation one-hour prior at Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Rev. C. Michael Verschaeve will officiate.
