Brett Michael Castillo (37) passed away suddenly Sunday, August 16, 2015.
Brett was born on All Saints Day, November 1, 1977 in Saginaw to Fred and Kelly (Allen) Castillo.

Brett was a 1996 graduate from Heritage High School moving to Traverse City in 1998. It was here he met, fell in love and married Melisa Ann Rutkowski who shared his adventurous spirit. Together they have two children, son Shae Michael, 10, and daughter Sophia Ann, 7.

Brett loved life. He said he was too blessed to be stressed. He loved his family above all else with Notre Dame coming in a close second. He had a love for the game, any game but he especially loved playing ball with Shae and coaching him in basketball, baseball and soccer! Watching his daughter Sophia dance gave him great enjoyment, especially the times they shared having dance parties in their living room. He also had a love of golf and shared this special time with his dad! Brett loved to make people laugh. He was a jokester, always lightening the mood. His never ending smile was contagious!

In addition to his wife Melisa, and children Shae and Sophie, Brett leaves behind his parents, sister, Sarah Jacobi and her husband, Brian, who was the brother he never had and their son Matthew; sister-in-law Sarah Rutkowki, and her son, Simon David; mother in law Sung Hui Yu 'Sunni'; grandfather James P. Allen, many aunts, uncles and his 19 'cuzzins'! All whom he held dear to his heart!

Brett was preceded in death by his father in law, David Rutkowski, his grandmothers Valeta Allen and Irene Castillo and grandfather Frank Castillo.

Please join the family as they celebrate Brett's life at Bay Point Community Church on Saturday August 22, 2015 at 11:00 am with visitation beginning at 10:00 am.
