Florella May Humphrey, 95, of Traverse City and formerly of Jackson passed away Sunday, September 29, 2024 at French Manor Terra.
Florella was born on December 10, 1928 in Jackson, MI to the late Orin and Florence (Pratt) Montgomery. On April 23, 1946, Florella married the love of her life, the late Robert S. Humphrey. Together, they raised three children in a loving household. Known for her timeless beauty, Florella always took pride in her appearance and aged gracefully.
Florella worked for many years at Midwest Precision, where she spent time on the line and even worked alongside her son for a period until her retirement. She liked to bake and loved crafts. Her favorite craft was crocheting. Everyone in the family had a sweater or afghan that she had made for them with love. Oil painting, ceramics and quilting were also some of her favorite things to work on. She liked preparing meals for the hunters at the family Hunting Cabin. Many cherished and humorous family memories were made there, which will live on in the stories shared by loved ones.
Her family will remember her love for them and her beautiful crafts. The family would also like to extend their gratitude to Cameron at French Manor Terra, who always helped Florella remain as beautiful as ever, even in her later years.
She is survived by her children Sandra Newton, Robert (Andrea) Humphrey, Linda (Dave) Smith, grandchildren, Angela (Michael) LaBrie, Bobby (Kendra) Humphrey, John "Trae" (Farrah) Sczykutowicz, Todd Cushman, Robert Cushman, Nicole Trolz, great grandchildren, Rachelle, Emilie, Devon, Elizabeth, and Jaxon Robert, great great grandson Jayden, special nephew Clayton "Eugene" Knowles, along with many other loving family members and friends.
She was greeted in heaven by her parents, siblings and husband Robert.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 5, 2024 in the Gardens at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home at 2pm with a visitation beginning at 1pm. Graveside Services will take place at 11am on Monday, October 7, 2024 at the Roseland Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Jackson, MI. Memorial contributions may be directed to a charity of one's choice.
