Obituary

Joseph "Joe" Stephan Winogrodzki, 92 of Thompsonville, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, January 27, 2013 at Culver Meadows Senior Living.

Joe was born on April 22, 1920 in Mt. Top, Pennsylvania to the late Joseph and Eva (Soblewski) Winogrodzki.

Joe was a talented Industrial Arts teacher for several years. He honorably answered the call of duty and joined the United States Navy and served as a Deck and Engineering Officer During WWII.

Upon his return from service he married Helen Pyryt on June 7, 1947 in Edwardsville, Pennsylvania. Following his marriage to Helen he completed his Master's Degree from Bucknell University.

In 1951 Joe and Helen moved to Michigan and he started working for Detroit Edison now known as DTE. They lived in the Inkster and Lathrup Village area for over 49 years. After retirement Joe and Helen moved to Thompsonville on a piece of property they bought in 1969.

Joe loved to garden and he could grow the most beautiful flowers. He was also an artistic painter and a talented woodworker. Polka dancing was also a passion for Joe and Helen. They were members of the Polka Boosters of America and the Polka Boosters of Warren.

Joe will fondly be remembered as a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.

Surviving Joe is his wife Helen of 65 years, daughter Wendy (Mark) Queenan, daughter-in-law Nancy Winogrodzki, grandchildren, Amber (Jon) Dunn, Oliver (Katie) Winogrodzki, Elizabeth (Tyler) Habrecht, Anna (Brad) Radcliffe, Trevor (Lauren) Queenan, Lea Queenan, great-grandchildren, Ryan, Connor, Amelia, Eliana, Madalyn, Sullivan, Wesley, and Eila, a brother Benjamin Winogrodzki, sister-in-law Margaret Winogrodzki, and many other loving family members and friends.

Joe is preceded in death by his parents, his son Curtis, his brother John and his wife Loretta, his brother Edward, and his sister-in-law Selma Winogrodzki.

A memorial service will be held for Joe at 3pm on Friday, February 1, 2013 at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home with a visitation one hour prior. Memorial contributions may be directed to Munson Hospice.
