Mr. Mark Winston Bolek of Big Rapids, Michigan, age 72, passed away on Friday, November 26, 2021.

Mark was born to Edward and Violet (Lassila) Bolek on April 16, 1949, in Traverse City, Michigan. He was a graduate of Traverse City Senior High School and graduated with an associate's degree from Ferris State University.

Mark enjoyed numerous careers throughout his life including the time he spent working on freighters, sailing the waters of the Great Lakes. Mark's passion was photography, and that talent was demonstrated with his work for 7&4 News and the Traverse City Preview.

He was also proud of his involvement with the Big Rapids Senior Center and the Mecosta County Democratic Party— he even ran for a local seat.

Mark was a kind and hardworking soul, who never met a stranger, and would offer a helping hand to anyone in need. He made many friends that way, including one of his closest, Cindy.

Mark is survived by his sister Linda Bolek; dear friend Cindy Stevens
He was preceded in death by his parents.

As Mark had wished, cremation has taken place, and services will be held at a later date.

Those wishing to offer an expression of sympathy are encouraged to make a memorial contribution in Mark's name to a charity of one's choice.
