Obituary

Patricia Anne Littlefield passed away peacefully at her home on Monday December 5th surrounded by her five children and her loyal dog. Her death came after an 8 year brave and determined battle with Multiple Myeloma. Patricia was born a twin on November 10, 1942 to Patricia and Michael Elias. She graduated from East Detroit High school and went on to receive a degree in Dental Hygiene from University of Detroit Dental School. In school, she met, and later married, Dr. Thomas Littlefield. In the early 70s, the couple moved their young family to Traverse City. Patricia had impeccable taste, she was a wonderful cook, an avid reader, a dedicated gardener, and a talented artist. She was a nurturer by nature and passionately helped grow everything from beautiful flowers to amazing children and grandchildren. She was the most dedicated and proud grandmother and she never missed her many talented grandchildren's events and performances. Patricia raised her children surrounded by love and Northern Michigan's beauty. She enjoyed many days outside on Grand Traverse Bay with her family, swimming, walking, reading and painting. She especially loved holidays and always decorated her home for each season. Patricia taught both her children and grandchildren to cook, often from recipes passed down from her mother. Most famously amongst the Littlefields - her French meat pie (tourtiere), enjoyed by all at Christmas. Patrica was a gifted artist, capturing the beauty around her in watercolors, acrylics, and pastels. As with cooking, she passed this passion on to her grandchildren as well, painting with them each summer on rocks, paper, canvas, and sometimes even paper bags. Patricia Anne was, above all else, a warmhearted woman who fostered a close-knit and loving family that will miss her smile, laugh, and light immensely. She will be remembered by her children and their spouses: Susan and Bill Dungjen, Jennifer Littlefield and Peter Wilkinson, Leslie Littlefield and Jim Brewer, Sarah and Andrew Shotwell, and Thomas Littlefield and Rachel Betzen; and her 11 grandchildren: Jeremiah and Zinnia Dungjen, Maya and Cecelia Littlefield, Benjamin and Nathanial Brewer, Amelia, Ava, and Vivian Shotwell; and Zoë and Simon Littlefield. She is also survived by her twin brother and sister-in-law Michael and Judy Elias, many nieces and nephews, and her faithful dog Brynn. Donations in honor of Patricia can be made to The Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation or The Old Town Playhouse.
