TRAVERSE CITY - Agnes Marie (Zalud) Steed, of Buckley, passed away at Munson Medical Center, with family at her side, on November 6, 2016 at the age of 92.
She grew up on a small family farm in Benzie County and later married James W. Steed and shared a home with him on his family dairy farm near Buckley. They lived there for the rest of their lives and raised a family of five. She was a strong and active partner in all aspects of the farming operation, along with being a devoted mother and homemaker.
She enjoyed farm life and took special pride in her large vegetable garden which provided much of the family's food. She was known widely as an excellent cook and for her generous hospitality. All visitors to the farm were welcome at her table at any time of the day.
She is survived by her daughters, Sandra Piotrowski and Mary Kimbel and sons James, Jess and Roger, along with ten grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren. Her husband preceded her in death.
The funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 9 at the Grant United Methodist Church (10999 Zue Rd., Buckley) with visitation one hour prior to the service. Pastor Colleen Wierman will officiate. Burial will be in Grant Township Cemetery.
