Traverse City - Andrew "Andy" James Fowler, 71, of Traverse City passed away July 25, 2014 at Munson Medical Center, surrounded by his family.
Andy was born on July 26, 1942 in Traverse City to the late William "Clare" and Adelaide Marie Fowler.
Andy proudly served our Country as a member of the United States Air Force, touring throughout Europe. Following his time in the service, he worked as a computer operator and programmer for the College of American Pathologists (CAP). Community Service was always an important part of his life, volunteering with the Jaycees, RSVP, and as a firefighter for Elmwood Township.
Time spent with family and friends on Silver Lake was a cherished part of his life. He even swam the length of the lake on his 50thbirthday. He was a devout Christian, an active member of the United Church of God, and was instrumental in preparing the audio and video equipment for the Sabbath media services, which he enjoyed doing. Above all else, Andy loved being with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Robert "Buzz" Fowler, and sister Carol LaForest.
Andy is survived by his sister Margo (Mike) Vincent of Shelby Twp.; daughter Sheryl (Todd) Beeman of Traverse City, James "Jim" (Antoinette) Fowler of Traverse City, and Brad (AnnaLee) Fowler of Grand Rapids; grandchildren Nick, Brendan, Lauren, and Caitlyn and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 – 7:00 pm Friday, August 1. Memorial service will be held Sunday August 3rd at 2:00 pmwith visitation one hour prior. All will be held at Reynolds Jonkhoff Funeral Home. VFW Cherryland Post #2780 will provide full military honors.
