Deborah "Deb" Ann Steinbeck, age 59, passed away peacefully after a brief illness on December 26, 2025, surrounded by loved ones.
Born in Dearborn, MI on October 5, 1966, to the late Ernest and Carol (Skotak) Emery and raised in Lincoln Park, MI, Deb carried with her the values of family, hard work, and kindness throughout her life. She later made her home in Elk Rapids, Michigan, where she became a deeply valued member of the community.
Deb was a dedicated professional, working as a CPA in Elk Rapids and also serving as the General Manager of the Town Club, where her leadership, warmth, and integrity were appreciated by colleagues and patrons alike.
She was the beloved wife of Jeff and a devoted mother to her two sons, Jeffrey J. (Sabrina) Steinbeck Jr. and Steven E. (Lonna) Steinbeck, who were the pride and joy of her life. She is also survived by her three sisters; Barbara (Jim) Hanks, Theresa (Leon) Alberts, and Susan (Craig) Justice, as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends who will miss her dearly. In addition, she was a cherished "foster grandma" to several, offering love, guidance, and generosity that extended far beyond her own family.
In her quiet moments, Deb found joy in crocheting, especially creating her signature monkeys for family and friends—each one a small, handmade symbol of her affection and thoughtfulness. These treasured gifts will continue to bring smiles and comfort to those who received them.
Above all, Deb will be remembered for her kind heart, steady presence, and the way she made people feel welcomed and cared for. Her legacy lives on through the many lives she touched, both within her family and throughout her community. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
A celebration of Deb's life will be held at the First Presbyterian Church, 404 Spruce St., Elk Rapids, MI 49629 on Saturday, January 3, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. with a memorial visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the Alzheimer's Association or the American Cancer Society.
