Dorothy J Leman Died Saturday, May 12, 2012 *PHOTO* LONG LAKE - Dorothy Jeanne Leman, 75, of Long Lake passed away Saturday, May 12, 2012 at her home, surrounded by the family she loved so dearly. Dorothy was born on Sunday October 25, 1936 to the late Carl and Dorothy (Hodgson) Bowers in Rossiter, PA. She met the love of her life, Warren K. Leman on a blind date on Valentines Day and became his wife on Monday, August 11, 1956 in Detroit. An executive secretary, Dorothy had been employed by Shell Oil Company for most of her career. She and Warren moved to this area nearly 40 years ago, owning and operating Long Lake Marina, where she also was the bookkeeper. She and Warren were avid snowmobilers, enjoying sledding in many areas of the country. They also enjoyed traveling in their motorhome, enjoying what traveling had to offer and made many trips to Nebraska. They often could be found fishing, enjoying any sort of out door activity as well as trips to the casino. Her family remembers with fondness the beautiful flower gardens around her home, but most of all they treasure the love of their wife, mother,grandmother, sister and aunt and time she spent with her husband, children, grandchildren, siblings, nieces, nephews and cousins. She will be remembered for her selflessness and kindness as well as her committment to her family, no matter what the circumstances might be. Left to cherish her memory is her husband of over 55 years, Warren; her children, Paul and his wife Heather Leman of Lake Ann; Pam and her husband Paul Bershon of Blair, NE, Alan and his wife Beth Leman of Traverse City; her beloved grandchildren, Breanna, Joshua and Jessica Bershon, Katherine and Benjamin Leman and Christopher and Jordan Leman. Also surviving are her siblings, Dick (Ann) Bowers of Utica, Bonnie (Fred) Wilson of Yale, Karen (Robert) Haderer of Roscommon, Carl David Bowers, Jr. of Port Huron, many nieces and nephews and their special friends, Robert and Kathy Haugh and Dr. Bill and Joan McCool, all of Traverse City as well as their Long Lake Marina "family". Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents. Visitation for Dorothy will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. tonight, Monday, May 14 at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 15 at the Lake Ann United Methodist Church (downtown Lake Ann) with Pastor Justin Grimm of Advent Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery in Long Lake Township. The family asks that Dorothy be remembered through memorial gifts to their favorite charity, Boys Town.
