Frank Lloyd Wright

Frank Lloyd Wright, 88, of Elk Rapids passed away on Tuesday, July 28, 2015 at his home. Frank was born on August 15, 1926, the son of the late Francis and Jean Wright. He was predeceased by a brother, Robert. Frank graduated from McKenzie High School in 1944 and attended the University of Detroit for two years. He worked for Detroit Diesel from 1945-1947, Federals and then Montgomery Ward from 1947 to 1951, this is where he met his future wife. He married the former Lois Beier on May 5, 1951 in Redford, MI. He was a loving husband and father for 64 years. They moved to Livonia in 1954, where they raised their three children. They attended Peace Lutheran Church where Frank taught Sunday school and became President of the congregation for a number of years. Frank Loved God and his religion. In 1961 Frank took a job at the Peninsular Paper Co. in Ypsilanti. He started in sales and worked himself up to Sales Manager. In 1978 Peninsular Paper Co. sold to James River Paper Co., the headquarters were in Virginia. In 1985 Frank was transferred to Pennsylvania. They bought a home in Holland stayed there until he retired in 1989. In December of 1989 they moved into their retirement home on Elk Lake in Elk Rapids. This is where he spent 26 wonderful years. Frank is survived by his loving wife, Lois, his two sons Paul Wright of Redford Township, Charles (Nancy) Wright of Brighton and his daughter Diane (Donald) Glowicki of Williamsburg. He was the cherished grandpa of Rebecca (Tony), Paul Jr. (Shelly), Krista, Amy (Matthew), Christopher, Matthew, Kelly (Keith) and Ryan (Andrea). Also surviving are seven great-grand children; Alexis, Kayle, Brayden, Caleb, Mason, Adelaide and Mila. Friends are welcome to visit with Frank’s family on Friday, July 31, 2015 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home, 305 Sixth St., Traverse City, MI 49684. A memorial service honoring Frank will take place at 11:00 on Saturday, August 1, 2015 at Prince of Peace Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1776 High Lake Rd., Traverse City, MI 49696, with visiting one hour prior. Pastor Stephen Raddatz will officiate. In lieu of flowers those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider a memorial donation to the Prince of Peace Evangelical Lutheran Church Building Fund.
