Gary Michael Beeman of Grawn, MI passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 10, 2026. He was surrounded by his loving wife, children and grandchildren.
Gary was born on March 22, 1949, in Lansing, Michigan to Gerald & Lois Beeman. Gary graduated from Traverse City High School in 1967 and then joined the Navy. He married his high school sweetheart, Donna Nelson, on March 30th, 1968. Together they raised their 3 children and were blessed with 6 wonderful grandchildren.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald & Lois (Bennett) Beeman; brother, Rod Beeman and many beloved aunts, uncles and cousins.
Gary is survived by wife Donna; children, Tricia (Scott) Leesch of Cadillac; Tod Beeman of Grawn, Robin (Matthew) Keller of Traverse City; grandchildren, Kyle Leesch, True Beeman, Olivia Beeman, Ava Keller, Brie Leesch, Logan Keller; sister in laws, Chris Beeman, Joan Moorhead, Ann Johnson; niece and nephews, Lisa Moy, Jim Moorhead, Jason Beeman, Travis Beeman, Walter Beeman, Rodney Beeman.
After returning from the Navy, Gary pursued his adventurous side throughout the country by working as a builder and mason. He was extremely hardworking and never idle for long. He eventually returned home to work in the family business, Beeman's Excavating (that he had been a part of since he was in his teens), with his father and brother. Gary and Rod proudly ran the business until turning it over to the next generation, his son, Tod and nephew Jason.
What mattered most to Gary was spending time with his family. He enjoyed celebrating every birthday, holiday and family reunion with his loved ones. There was never a dull moment when he was around. He loved to have fun, joke around and was typically the life of the party. Gary enjoyed boating, water skiing, camping, golfing, riding his Harley Davidson and hunting. One of his favorite memories was going out West to Kansas on a hunting trip with his son and friends. Gary loved to travel and would spend time primarily in the winter in Florida. He visited numerous states and other countries. You could also find him relaxing at his property on Bear Lake.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, May 2, 2026 at Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home. Family will welcome visitors an hour prior to the service, starting at 10:00 a.m. A Graveside Service will take place at Maple Grove Cemetery in Grawn, MI.
