Traverse City - Janet Elaine Watson, 87, of Traverse City and formerly of Maple City, MI, died Thursday, April 14, 2016 at Grand Traverse Pavilions-Willow Cottage in Traverse City.
Janet was born on Sunday, March 10, 1929 to the late Charles and Mabel (Ashmore) Coleman in Maple City, MI.
Janet married Robert "Bud" Watson on Saturday, July 22, 1950 in the First Congregational Church of Traverse City, MI. After marrying Bud, they raised three children.
After raising her children she spent more than 20 years as a day care provider. Janet was an active member of Asbury Methodist Church and volunteered regularly. Her time was spent with the church, her family and friends making memories for years to come.
Janet is survived by her husband Bud Watson of Traverse City, and their three children; Bobbie (Greg) Simon of West Branch and their two children Phil (Amy) Simon, Kelli Werner, Rick (Pat) Watson of Traverse City; and their three children Chris (Sara) Watson, Mark Watson, Heidi (Chris) Dobias, Don (Jan) Watson of Cadillac; and his two daughters Erica (Bernie) Cordell, Leslie (Wil) Antoine, and fourteen great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and loving friends.
Janet was preceded in death by her parents; Charles and Mable; infant son Jeffery, brothers Robert, Glen Coleman and sister June (Warren) Poertner.
Visitation for friends and family will be held on April 18, 2016 from 5pm until 7pm at Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home. Funeral services will take place at Traverse Bay United Methodist Church on Tuesday April 19, 2016 at 11:00am with a visitation one hour prior and a luncheon immediately following. Grave-side committal services will be held in Memorial Gardens Cemetery following the luncheon.
