John Ralph Niesen, affectionately known as Jack, met his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, October 22, 2025.

Jack was a devoted husband and loving father and grandfather. He was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, and the Catholic Order of Foresters. He volunteered with the Father Fred Foundation and the Traverse City Area Visitor's Bureau. He enjoyed woodworking, model railroads, photography, and traveling.

He will be missed by his wife of 65 years, Marilyn Niesen; children: James (Lynda) Niesen, Janet (Jim) Owens, Margaret (Luis) Araquistain, John (Carolyn) Niesen, Patricia (William) Suchy, Thomas (Huirong) Niesen, Mary Ann Niesen, Renee Vessels; grandchildren: Dillon, Megan, Sarah, John, Katie, Will, Jack, Ana, James, Frances, Madeleine; and sister, Ruth Martinez.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John J. & Florence (Amann) Niesen; and siblings, Rosemary Sprague, Gerald Niesen, and Sister Margaret Niesen.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 3, 2025 at Christ the King Catholic Church, 3801 Shore Rd, Williamsburg. Family will accept visitors an hour prior to the service, starting at 10:00 a.m. A luncheon will follow. Private family interment will be held at Oakwood Catholic Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to Father Fred Foundation in Traverse City or the Society of St. Vincent de Paul.
