John B. Sprandel

John B. Sprandel of Traverse City, walked into our Savior’s arms Wednesday, March 19, 2025 with his loving wife and daughter at his side. John was born March 30, 1944 in Ft. Wayne, IN to Walter Sprandel and Henerietta (Meyer) Sprandel. Growing up, John’s family often spent their summers in Leelanau County. His family bought a house on Little Traverse Lake where they resided for many years. John met his loving wife Devon (Inman) Sprandel at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church where they married August 27, 1977. Their marriage was blessed with their two children, Bryson and Heather. As the proud owner of Sprandel Plumbing Repair Service. He enjoyed the challenges of repairing the plumbing of cottages and homes for his customers, he was fortunate to serve for over 30 years. He made many long lasting friendships with his customers along the way. John was a life long member of the Buckley Old Engine Show. He and his son Bryson were an integral part of the restoration of the original steam locomotive. You could often hear them calling for “Mr. Sprinkle” to fix a plumbing issue during the show. John’s laughter, sense of humor and loyalty surrounded him with friends that were more like family. He also enjoyed watching NASCAR races, and was a big fan of the Green Bay Packers, and Notre Dame. With unwavering faith, John was a current member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Traverse City. Prior to that, he attended Immanuel Lutheran Church in Leland, and St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Good Harbor. John is survived by his wife of 47 years, Devon, and his daughter, Heather. He is also survived by his siblings Tom (Marie) Sprandel of Seattle, WA and Sally Harvey of Cape Coral, FL. Along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins who he loved very much. John was preceded in death by his parents and son, Bryson. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, March 27, 2025 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Traverse City with Pastor Bruce Lucas officiating. A visitation will be one hour prior to the service. A private burial will occur at a later date. Memorial contributions may be directed towards Trinity Lutheran Church or The Buckley Old Engine Show.
