June McIntosh, 88, of Traverse City passed peacefully to Heaven on January 4, 2015 at Cherry Hill Haven.

June was born on September 14, 1926 in Mt. Morris Township in Genessee County to the late Lawrence and Sylvia (Wilson) Blackmore.

On February 18, 1948 June married Wayne McIntosh in Traverse City.

June worked for the Traverse City State Hospital for 33 + years. Following her retirement she volunteered at Munson Hospital for 15 + years answering phones and greeting visitors.

In her spare time she enjoyed knitting, crafting and cooking. She was a master seamstress and made beautiful wedding dresses, bridesmaid dresses, afghans and sweaters. June liked to golf and was an avid bowler. Above all else she loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren and spent many years watching them and playing with them.

June is survived by her daughters Debra McIntosh of Portland, OR, and Sandra McIntosh of Traverse City, daughter in law Michelle McIntosh of Lake Ann, grandchildren Joshua (Jenny) Hiday, USMC stationed in Okinawa Japan, Jessica Hiday of Traverse City. Tonya Woodworth (Craig) of Traverse City, Corrie Reyna(Pat) of Lake Ann, great grandchildren Maryn, McKenzie, Legend, Connor, Kylie, Michaela, Brett, Sean, and Mariyah, sister Donna Bomer of Carpentiera California, sister-in-law Marita Finnila of North Carolina, as well as many nieces and nephews.

June was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Michael "Mac", and siblings Lawrence, Dale, Bruce, Robert, Jessie Lautner, Hazel Blackmore, Geraldine Clement and great granddaughter Sofia Rose.

A celebration of June's life will take place on Thursday, January 8, 2015 from 6 to 8 pm at the Reynolds Jonkhoff Funeral Home.

Graveside services will take place on Friday April 10, 2015 at 11 am at Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens.

Memorial contributions in memory of June may be directed to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, The Salvation Army Food Pantry or the Cherryland Humane Society.
