Kerstin Marie Colmus

Kerstin Marie Colmus, 19, beloved daughter of Joe and Ann (LeRoux) Colmus gained her angel wings April 18, 2017. Kerstin was born June 30, 1997 in Saginaw, MI where she began her childhood until the age of four when she and her family moved to Traverse City. Growing up, her smile would light up any room. She was independent, driven, thoughtful, selfless, funny, giving and had a heart of gold. She literally was one of the best people to be around. Kerstin was a graduate of Saint Francis in 2015 and continued on with her hard work and determination from high school by excelling at NMC with a soon to be Associates Degree. Her dream was to receive a Bachelors Degree in Business, although she hadn’t decided on the school of choice. Even with being a fulltime student, Kerstin managed to still find time to work an average of 40 hours a week between 4 Front Credit Union and Amical Restaurant. She would openly admit that she “ran like a girl” even while playing softball in high school. She was the family baker, making cheesecakes from scratch while dancing thru the kitchen and singing at the top of her lungs. She lovingly wore her nickname of Barbie, and her older sister Kate would call her “my person”. Her collection of shoes and fancy clothes that sparkled filled up her room and her everyday outfit choices were a true testament to the beautiful and bubbly soul she was. Kerstin knew the Detroit Tigers by name and made it a point as often as possible to catch a game. Her generosity was endless and after returning home from any outing she would always have special gifts and treats for her family. Not just for baseball, she was a true sports enthusiast for most sports and was able to stay in most heated conversations about player statistics. Kerstin is loved and missed dearly by her mom and dad, her big sister Katelynn, her grandparents Rose Reinbold , Eugene Colmus Sr. and Judy and Bill LeRoux, her Aunt Carli (Jim) Anderson and Uncles; Dave (Julia) LeRoux, Jeff (Paige) LeRoux, John (Melissa) LeRoux and Shawn Campbell. Also missing her are her cousins; Alex and Haleigh Anderson and Christian, Dalton, Justin, Mason and Maddie LeRoux, as well as special friends; Elizabeth Gallagher and Rachael Nickerson. A private celebration of Kerstin’s life will be held.
