Robert "Bobby G." DeWayne Gordon, 71, of Traverse City died on April 6, 2015, at home.

Bobby G. was born in the boot hill of Clarkton, Missouri, on December 7, 1943, to the late Woodrow and Marilyn (Meyers) Gordon. He married Mary Johanna Heater on July 22, 1995, in Traverse City.

At an early age, his family moved to Clarkston, MI. After completing high school, he served in the U.S. Air Force. For the next 28 years, he worked for Pontiac Motors. He competed against 1300 people and was one of ten who won the opportunity to attend Oakland Memorial College and earn an associate degree in industrial engineering. He studied and became a tool and die Journeyman and worked two jobs most of his life. Bob was the owner of his own company, Bobby G.'s Carpentry. He developed the Maple Ridge subdivision in Interlochen. One of his fondest memories was when he traveled to Chile on a church mission trip to help build two churches.

Bob is survived by his wife, Mary, of 19 years; three children, Mathew Gordon of Ortonville; Julie (Bob) Wilkinson of White Lake; and Nanette (Andy) Winter of Flushing; four grandchildren, Robert and Jacob Wilkinson and Becca and Garrett Fritch.

He loved golfing, playing poker with the guys, watching TV-especially wheel of fortune, watching old movies over and over, his wife's cooking, jigsaw puzzles, and college sports. Bobby was a good man with a great sense of humor. He will fondly be remembered as a good husband, father, and grandfather. His faith was strong. He will be greatly missed.


Visitation for Bobby G. will take place from 6:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m. on Friday, April 10, 2015, at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home. Funeral services will take place at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 11, 2015, at The Bethlehem Lutheran Church at 2 p.m. with visitation held from 1 p.m-2 p.m. Memorial contributions may be directed to his family or to a charity of one's choice.
