Sara Rose Johnson, age 46, of Traverse City and Flushing, Michigan, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, December 13, 2025.
Sara was born on June 16, 1979, in Flint, Michigan, to Daryl and Diane (Rau) Johnson. She grew up in the Flushing area and attended Powers Catholic High School, where she was active in both basketball and soccer and formed friendships that lasted throughout her life. She later attended Baker College, earning her Associate's Degree.
Sara worked in a clerical position for a radiology clinic, where she was known for her kindness, dependability, and willingness to help others. She had a love for animals, especially her beloved cat, KiKi, who was her faithful companion for more than 20 years.
A devoted sports fan, Sara supported the Detroit Lions, Detroit Tigers, and Michigan State University football and basketball teams. She enjoyed shopping and loved spending time at the beach or visiting the casino. Most of all, she cherished visiting with friends and family and had a special gift for listening with care and compassion.
To know Sara was to love her. Her beautiful smile and quick sense of humor could light up any room, and she loved making people laugh. Generous to her core, Sara would give her last dime to someone she believed needed it. She will be dearly missed and never forgotten.
Sara is survived by her loving parents, Daryl and Diane Johnson; her sister, Andrea Johnson; many aunts and uncles; numerous cousins; and her close friend, Debby Molina. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Cleon and Dorothy Rau, and Raymond and Elizabeth Johnson, as well as her aunt, Maggie Rau and uncle, James Rau.
Visitation will be held in two sessions on Thursday, December 18, 2025, at Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and from 4:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. A funeral service will take place on Friday at Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home beginning at 11:00 a.m., with visitation one hour prior. Burial will follow with a procession to Oakwood Cemetery.
