Shayna Lee Sanor
April 5, 1985 - November 30, 2014

Shayna Lee Sanor of Traverse City started her book of life, by coming into this world as a strong willed red haired girl on April 5, 1985. That same strength was even more evident this past year as she fought leukemia with amazing courage and determination. Her story was cut short and ended with just a few chapters. At the age of 29, her young life ended on November 30, 2014 at the MD Anderson Hospital in Houston Texas with her parents by her side.
Shayna was born in Traverse City to Jim Sanor and Patty Albarado. She attended Traverse City Public Schools in which she graduated from in 2003. She went on to earn a Bachelor's degree from Spring Arbor University. While in high school, she worked at the Flap Jack Shack for several years. It was there, she made many lifelong friends with co-workers and customers. Until her illness she worked as a Human Resource Assistant at the Pavilions, a place of employment that she dearly loved and treasured, where her co-workers and supervisor Leslie, made it more than just a job.
She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Fitness was important to Shayna, that's why running 5K's, doing Crossfit, participating in MMA and the cherished daily walks with her mom and dog Shadow were of importance to her. One of her favorite quotes, "A dog is the only thing on earth that loves you more than you love yourself"-Josh Billings.
Shayna is preceded in death by her paternal grandmother, Vera "Joyce" Sanor and maternal grandmother Ruth M. Garvin.
Shayna is survived by her parents Jim (Carmen) Sanor, Patty (Brad) Albarado, a brother A.J. (special friend Alicia) Sanor. Paternal grandfather, Bud Sanor, Aunts, Debbie (Todd) Gilbert, and Laurie (Steve) Steele, and Uncle Gary (special friend Rhonda) Sanor. Maternal Grandfather, Roman (Mary) Garvin, Aunts and Uncles, Shirley (Sonny) Eley, Tom (Sue) Garvin, Jerry (Shirley) Garvin, Steve (fiancé Kim) Garvin, numerous cousins, Special friend, Chris Franks, her two best friends, Heather Davis and Liz Yoich. With special mention of her cousin Kylee Gatzke for her guidance and support and of course her beloved dog Shadow.
A Memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 6, 2014 at Reynolds Jonkhoff Funeral Home at 11 o'clock a.m. with visitation 1 hour prior to the service.
In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions will be made in Shayna's name to local leukemia families with financial needs. They may be directed to Jim Sanor or Patty Albarado.
