Edward Sherman Atkinson Jr., age 87, of Traverse City, passed away on Tuesday, July 23, 2024.

Sherman grew up in Steubenville, Ohio. He earned his engineering degree from the University of Cincinnati and attended the Advanced Management Program at Havard. He worked for National Steel and Granite City Steel for 32 years. He also traveled internationally as a management consultant. Sherman volunteered with the Coast Guard and Mission Peninsula Township. He was an avid sailor and completed the Chicago to Mackinac sailboat race many times with his sons. He enjoyed woodworking and time with his family.

Sherman is survived by his wife of 64 years, Mary Ann; children: Joannée, Mia, Patrick, Sherman, Nicolle and 5 grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life for Sherman will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice in your area or Parkinson's Research.
