It is with sad hearts we announce the passing of Sherryl Ann Nicholson after courageously battling cancer for over a year.

Sherry was born in Traverse City on June 25, 1950 to Fay and Pauline (Weese) Cox. She married Gary Nicholson in 1974 and together raised their family in Williamsburg, MI. Gary preceded her in death on August 14, 2021. Sherry was also preceded in death by her parents, Fay and Pauline, and a brother, Kim.

Sherry loved spending time with her friends playing Euchre, sewing, crafting, and spending time with her dog.

She is survived by her children, Lori Nicholson, Bryan (Sara) Nicholson, Mathew (Leah) Nicholson, and Kari Nicholson (Sherry's special caregiver through this battle); grandchildren, Shelby (Caleb) Eklund, Kaden, Karlee, and Audrey, as well as her great grandchildren, Gracelyn, Lucy, and Simon. Sherry is also survived by her stepsons, Kenneth (Cindy) Nicholson, Kevin (Jaimie) Nicholson, a brother, Gary (Diane) Cox, a niece, nephews, and her beloved dog, Mandy.

Cremation has taken place. Details were handled by Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral home.

A celebration of Sherry's life will be held from 3:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 3rd, 2025 at Art and Connection, 965 Green Street, Elk Rapids, MI 49629.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Munson Hospice House of Traverse City or Art and Connection of Elk Rapids.
