Susan Barbara Castle, 65, born into this world 2/22/53, and reborn into another world, 12/4/18.
To all of those who came into contact with Sue, their experience was enlightening and memorable. Susan was full of genuine, vivacious energy that was contagious. She never had a negative word to say about anyone. Her presence in any room, meeting or interaction was positive and up-lifting. She cared about everyone and everything, and that caring followed-through with action, doing and results.
She truly talked the talk, and walked the walk, with no expectation of payback or compensation.
Although she did not pursue a complete traditional education, she was a pupil the world's classroom. She retooled and retrained herself again and again, throughout her life, and was highly successful as a paralegal, real estate agent, Commission on Aging board member, and certified purchasing agent for the county. She worked for the Boride Products division of Dow Chemical developing and producing heat shields for spacecraft and other top secret military devices. She touched lives at the Friend of the Court and the Senior Center, and was employed at Lakes States Insurance and Consumers Power.
Most importantly, she was a devoted and caring sister, daughter, wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved animals, plants, and nature. Duchess, Miss Molly, and Quigley were special dogs to Sue, who was fondly referred to as "Aunt Susie the Treat Lady" and she was frequently sought out by neighborhood canine. Sue's husband David, son David Jr., and wife Jaime, grandchildren Kiera and Mason, nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews, mother, brothers Joe and David, and sister Nancy were always on the forefront of her mind. Her gift of giving of both time and self was unrelenting.
Sue and her husband unselfishly cared for her 97-year-old mother, who continues to reside in her home. This was truly the work of saints.
There is a bumper sticker that reads, "I hope I am half the person my dog thinks I am". Sue's bumper sticker would read, "I'm privileged to be all my dog thinks I am, and more".
Those considering an expression of sympathy may choose to do so to the Cherryland Humane Society.
A funeral service to honor Sue's life will take place Saturday December 8, 2018 at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home at 2:00pm with visitation from 12:00pm-2:00pm.
