Tad D. Cook of Traverse City, Michigan, age 65, passed away on Monday March 28, 2022. He was born to James and Barbara (Alexender) Cook on January 15, 1957, in Traverse City.
Tad was born the youngest of four children. He finished high school in 1976 and went on to trade school for automotive repair and later became a mechanic. In 1986, he opened J & J Repair on M-72 in Traverse City and later took over Hillcrest Auto Part and Salvage. He retired in 2010 and had his own shop at his house where he continued to work on vehicles for his friends and family. Tad was married to Amy Cook (Blaser). He loved to go camping, ride rollercoasters, working on cars and projects with his children, golfing, playing cribbage, hunting, fishing, playing cards and grilling. In his free time, Tad loved to help people, work around the house, and loved spending time with his seven grandchildren, D.J., Gabby, Windsor, Lily, Atticus, Maximillian, and Athena.
Tad is survived by his beloved wife of ten years, Amy Cook; mother Barbera (Alexender) Cook; uncle Mark (Margret) Cook and aunt Ester Silcock; loving children, Jessica (Michael), Ryan, Jacob, and Samyntha; and stepson Charles; brothers Calvin (Rosemary), Kim (Kimberly), and Todd (Jayne) Cook.
He was preceded in death by his father James Cook; and twin sons, Justin and Joshua Cook.
A memorial service will be celebrated by Pastor Chris Lane at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 5, 2022, at Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home, 305 Sixth Street, Traverse City, Michigan 49684. There will be a time of visitation one hour prior to the service.
Following the service, beginning at 5:00 p.m., you are cordially invited to join Tad's family for a continued celebration of his life at the VFW Cherryland Post 2780, 3400 Veterans Drive, Traverse City, MI 49684.
