Obituary

Timothy James Nash, 48, died unexpectedly at his home on March 27, 2023 in Cedar, Mich.

Born on October 4, 1974 in Traverse City, Mich., Nash was always the life of the party. He grew up between Traverse City and the Upper Peninsula, where he loved to laugh and spend time with his mom and stepdad, sisters and his many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Nash graduated from Glen Lakes High School and later obtained degrees from Northwest Michigan College and the University of Michigan. He also served in the United States Marine Corps and was a proud veteran.

He was an accomplished electrician and inventor, obtaining several patents and always working on new and exciting technology. In his spare time, he and his friends developed his beloved property in Cedar, hosting parties that included everything from tractor rides to live bands. Anyone who went to Nash Bash, his signature event, will tell you the bonfires were epic.

At any of Tim's gatherings, guests would meet people from all walks of life: A true testament of Tim's friendly nature and big heart. Strangers were not strangers for long. He embraced good conversation, even better music and was known to dance, once so hard he sprained his ankle.

Tim was also the father to three boys: Oscar, Avery and Samuel. He was proud of his boys and loved showing them the wonders of Northern Michigan. He looked forward to watching them grow into young adults. Recently, Tim took on an instructor role with NMC, working with students in basic electrical engineering classes.

Tim gave amazing hugs, loved a good meal and enjoyed having a happy hour cocktail sitting in the river that ran along his property. He lived a life fuller than most because he was open to new experiences and never passed judgement. He was a good friend through and through.

Tim leaves behind his children Oscar Layer of Traverse City, Avery Butterworth and Samuel Nash of Grand Haven, Mich. He is survived by his mother and stepdad, Carolyn and Ron Ford of Weeki Wachi, Fla., his father Jim Nash of Traverse City, his sister Amy (Jeff) Wheeler of Curtis, his sister Danielle (Nate) of Engadine, and his aunt Linda Nash of Traverse City. He is also survived by lots of aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces and cousins who will miss him dearly.

Those wishing an expression of sympathy may contribute to American Heart Association in Tim's honor.
