Allen Bluhm

July 17, 1932 - April 14, 2021

Allen Bluhm, 88, of Lake Ann, passed away April 14, 2021. Allen was born July 17, 1932 to Elmer and Mary (Saar) Bluhm in Detroit, MI. He honorably served his country in the United States Air Force. After his years of service, he graduated with a degree in Education from Eastern Michigan University. Allen fell in love with and married his bride of 64 years Margaret Jane (Tragge). Together they raised three children, with morals, ethics, values, humor and even some magic. He was a Special Education Teacher at Arnell Engstrom School where he served as a role model and mentor to his students. To know Allen was a privilege. He was a great friend. Allen was an involved member of the Lake Ann community where he wore many hats. He was a founding member of the Almira Historical Society and was a charter member of the Lake Ann Lions Club. He was a self-proclaimed Master Pancake Batter Mixer. Allen was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Interlochen. He was a volunteer firefighter and taught gun safety. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed photography, hunting, fishing, wood working, snowmobiling, watersports, and camping along with many other interests. Allen is survived and missed dearly by his loving wife Jane Bluhm, children; Cheryl (Bluhm) and Denny Bueche, Sharon (Bluhm) and Bruce Bennett, Daryl and Lisa (Schlueter) Bluhm, grandchildren; Katie (Bueche) and Nate Jones, Michael Bueche, Megan Bennett, Matthew Bennett, Jared Bluhm, and Taylor Bluhm, great-grandchildren; Elizabeth Powers, Arthur Powers, and Tessa Jones. He is preceded in death by his parents; Elmer and Mary (Saar) Bluhm and his brother; Marland Bluhm. A funeral service will take place Monday April 19, 2021 at 11:00am at the Redeemer Lutheran Church of Interlochen. Visitation will take place from 10:00am until the beginning of service. Allen's final resting place will be Greenbriar Cemetery of Almira. Contributions on Allen's behalf may be made to Redeemer Lutheran Church, Almira Historical Society, Lake Ann Lions Club, or Grow Benzie. The family is being cared for by the Reynolds Jonkhoff Funeral Home.
