Amy Cooksey

Amy Cooksey, 92, of Northport, completed her earthly journey and went to be with her husband the late Dr. Norton J. Cooksey on September 24, 2020. Born on May 21, 1928 in Fort Davis, Texas to the late Arthur and Jane (Johnson) Bloys, Amy was one of four children. Amy has been living in the area since 1977 after moving from Bloomfield Hills. She was a faithful member of Trinity Church in Northport, the PEO Sisterhood and the Northport Women’s Club. She thoroughly enjoyed geology, archeology and music. Amy spent the majority of her professional career at the University of Michigan as a Speech Therapist and also in the Ypsilanti Public school System. She had a great passion for her career and touched the lives of many. A memorial service honoring Amy’s life will be held at a later time. Amy is survived and missed dearly by her children; James (Pat) Cooksey, Donald (Cherrie) Cooksey and Anne (Dr. Steve) Sherman. She is also survived by her grandkids; Elizabeth, Nathan, Laura and Clare. She is preceded in death by her parents and her siblings; Benjamin, James and Martha. Amy and her family are being cared for by the Reynolds Jonkhoff Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
