Ann Margaret Ogur

July 26, 1940 - May 4, 2022

Ann Margaret Ogur (Korybalski), 81, passed peacefully May 4th, 2022 in Traverse City, Michigan. She spent her many years cultivating her friendships and her gardens. Ann’s petite stature, smiling blue eyes, and passion for her morning coffee and a phone call will be missed by all who knew her. Ann was born in Wayne, Michigan on July 26, 1940 and attended Wayne St. Mary’s Catholic School. On June 27, 1964 she married the love of her life, Robert L. Ogur, who survives. Our Dad has said that he would not be the man he is today, without her constant love and encouragement. We will never forget the way he got her attention from another room. Not hearing “Ann!” again pains us all greatly. Ann used her degree from Western Michigan University to introduce hundreds of kindergarteners to her love of learning. Following her departure from the classroom, she continued to teach, but focused her energy on us, her three daughters. She was our constant cheer leader, confidant, and best friend. She never stopped learning, teaching, or helping others and instilled this trait onto all of us. Our Mom’s love of gardening introduced her to many friends and adventurous travels to visit world renowned gardens. She enjoyed gardening so much, that she commuted to Michigan State University from Troy in order to become a Master Gardener. She then became a member of HOW (Horticulturally Obsessed Women) in Oakland County. Her gardens in Troy, Michigan, where we were raised, and in Traverse City, where she and our Dad retired, were meticulously planned and still are as stunning as ever. Ann was a skilled First Mate to our Dad and often spent weeks at a time with him on their boat “Rugo” in the North Channel. She was an active member of the Great Lakes Cruising Club. Her uncanny ability to remember the location of all ice cream shops in the ports of the Great Lakes region will be surpassed by no one. Her five grandchildren were her true joy. She always had a craft or outdoor project on the ready so they could create something beautiful together. Our Mom is survived by her husband of 58 years, Robert L. Ogur and her three amazing daughters Julie (Scott) Tripp, Jill (Mark McLane) Auger, and Joanne (Nathan Strehl) Ogur. Nana’s memory will be treasured by her grandchildren, Nathaniel and Annaleise Tripp and Jessica, Sarah, and Michael Auger. Also surviving are her brother Michael (Phyllis) Korybalski as well as many nieces, nephews, and special friends. She was preceded in death by her parents Edmund and Alice Korybalski and her brother John Korybalski. A celebration of life will take place at Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home at 305 Sixth Street, Traverse City, MI 49684 on Tuesday, May 10th, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. with visitation starting at 10:00 a.m. Ann was a wonderful woman who was full of grace, kindness, and generosity. In lieu of flowers, please plant something beautiful, volunteer for a special cause, or make a donation to the Peninsula Community Library at 2893 Island View Road, Traverse City, MI 49686 or the Botanic Garden at Historic Barns Park, 1490 Red Drive, Traverse City, MI 49684. Please feel free to share your thoughts and memories with Ann’s family at her tribute page at www.reynolds-jonkhoff.com. The family is being cared for by the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home and Cremation Services. Au revoir!
