Anna Lee Leas, 84, of Traverse City, formally of East Lansing, Michigan passed away peacefully on August 3, 2023, at home.
Anna Lee was born and raised in Indianapolis, Indiana to Jewel Lee (Coleman) and Gerald Ganser. Anna graduated from Howe High School and began her undergraduate degree at Hanover College, completing her BA at Northwestern University. Anna was a remarkable woman and first and foremost Anna was a remarkable mom. Anna was wildly fun, with a sparkling sense of humor. Anna was strong, intelligent, fiercely loving, enthusiastic, insightful, creative, resourceful, and a true champion for her children as well as a consistent advocate for human rights, equality, and social change. Anna deeply loved camping, traveling the world, being at her cottage on Torch Lake, her friends, her dogs, a good meal, making jewelry, and cherished, above all, time spent with her children and grandchildren.
Anna was preceded in death by her beloved son, Kent Leas, and her brother Carl Ganser. A few short months after Anna's passing, she was joined in death by her dear granddaughter Megan Lee Winegar with whom she was very close.
Anna is survived by her children Michele, Annette, Nancy, and Karl. Her husband James L Roach and her grandchildren/grandpups: Jeff, Ben, Martha, Duncan, and Dearg.
