November 15, 1946 - October 27, 2013
With all the grace and sweetness she was known for, Bethany Ann Lindsay passed away October 27, 2013 at Munson Medical Center with her loving sister Judi Lindsay and her longtime friend, advocate and guardian, Christine Ibbotson at her side. Beth leaves behind a legacy of big smiles, giggles and grins, and the ability to easily and frequently say “I love you.” Beth was born November 15, 1946 in Flint to the late Leo and Shirley (Belanger) Lindsay. She was raised in Flint then moved north, with her parents, to Old Mission Peninsula. Beth eventually moved to the Community Living Center in Traverse City where she thoroughly enjoyed the friendship of other residents and was afforded the opportunity to learn skills that allowed her to live as independently as possible. Beth also worked at the Grand Traverse Project (now GTI) and got great satisfaction from having a job and getting a paycheck. Beth benefitted greatly from various programs that allowed her to participate in a variety of social activities in the community. As Beth aged and “slowed down”, she eventually moved to the Fort Road Residence AFC in Suttons Bay where she was loved and nurtured and treated as Queen Beth. This move, made possible through the strong advocacy of those around her, in particular case manager Judi Crane, was a perfect fit. Her “family” in Suttons Bay adored her and the house will not be the same without Beth’s presence. Special thanks to Matt Langley and his staff who saw to it that her every need was met. Beth truly appreciated such simple pleasures as a good cup of coffee, a trip to McDonald’s for a hamburger (no pickles, please!) with fries and a coke, having her finger nails painted, watching “her shows” on TV. , wearing her old pink sweater when she was cold, and the chance to go for a ride whenever the opportunity presented. She was a very endearing person and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 31, 2013 from 2 until 5pm at Reynolds Jonkhoff Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held Friday, November 1, 2013 at 11:00am. Burial will take place at Memorial Gardens where she will be laid to rest next to her parents. In lieu of memorial contributions and in honor of Beth, today, tell someone “I love you.” Beth would have liked that.
