Carol Louise Meindertsma, 83, of Traverse City passed away at her home with her family by her side on October 9, 2019 after a short battle with cancer.
Carol was born on March 22, 1936 in Kalamazoo to the late Herman and Margaret (DeWitt) Lieffers.
On September 14, 1957 Carol married Mike Meindertsma in Eastmanville.
Carol attended Western Michigan University. She was a buyer and worked in sales for J.C. Penney for nearly 30 years. She enjoyed traveling and camping. She and Mike loved to head south during the winter months and spent 25 years in Zephyrhills, Florida
Above all else she cherished her time with her family and especially her grandchildren. She was compassionate and had an amazing ability to connect with others. Always the life of the party, she will be remembered for her quick wit and wonderful sense of humor.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents and grandson John Michael.
Carol is survived by her husband of 62 years, Mike; daughters Peggy (Dennis) Howe and Patty (Joe) Filko, son Mike (Brenda) Meindertsma; and grandchildren Molly (Scott) Stevens, Emily (Duke) Leonardo, Merah (Andrew) Hebert, Michael, Macy, Marley, great grandchildren Sloan Leonardo, Jameson Stevens and Winslow Leonardo; and step mother Betty Lou Lieffers.
Visitation for friends and family will be held on Sunday, October 13, 2019 from 5 to 7 pm at the Reynolds Jonkhoff Funeral Home.
The funeral service celebrating Carol's life will be held on Monday, October 14, 2019 at 11:00 am at Faith Reformed Church with visitation beginning one hour prior.
Private family graveside services will take place at Oakwood Cemetery.
Memorial contributions in her honor may be directed to Munson Hospice.
