Carol Joyce (Knopf) Vieracker, 83, of Traverse City, passed away November 20, 2022.
She was born December 29, 1938 in Hammond, Indiana, daughter to Elnor and Frieda (Bohl) Knopf.
On May 7, 1960 she married Richard Vieracker in Hammond.
Besides being a loving wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker, she was a registered nurse having graduated from Augustana Hospital School of Nursing in Chicago, Illinois, class of 1959.
Since moving to northern Michigan in 1981, she was employed by Mercy Hospital in Grayling. She was also on an ad hoc committee to form the Kalkaska County Hospice, Inc., from 1985-1986.
She was a member at St. Paul's Lutheran in Kalkaska, joining Trinity Lutheran Church in Traverse City in the early 1990's. There, she was deeply involved in the Dorcas Society ministry and devoted member of the congregation.
Carol was a gifted crafter, enjoying knitting, sewing and quilting most of all.
Carol is survived by her sons Richard (Candy) Vieracker and Robert Vieracker and grandchildren Janie, Corie Jillian, Kathryn, Caleb and Connor.
She was preceded in death by both parents; husband Richard; son William and brothers Arnold and Ralph Knopf.
Funeral services are planned for Saturday, Dec. 3, 11:00 AM, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Traverse City. Visitation one hour prior to the service.
Memorial contributions in Carol's honor may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church of Traverse City.
