Carolyn Joyce LaRaia, 81, of Cedar, Michigan passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 24, 2022 at her home. Carolyn was born on August 30, 1941 in Detroit to the late Denard and Mary (Williams) Ozbirn. She was married to George LaRaia on June 28, 1976. He preceded her in death on November 13, 2013.

Carolyn was a wonderful homemaker, she was a great cook and loved to be in her garden tending to her flowers, especially her roses. Every year she would purchase snowsuits and winter clothing for her grandchildren. Carolyn was very conscious of her appearance, her makeup had to be just right, especially her lipstick. Her favorite game was to leave big lipstick kisses on everyone so they knew how much she loved them. Above all, spending time with her family was her greatest joy.

Carolyn is survived by two daughters; Wendy (Fred) Koppen and Michelle Meyer, grandchildren; Amber Clark, James McMeekin, Joseph McMeekin, Claire Meyers and Alex Meyers and several great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are three step-daughters; Cynthia Ann LaRaia, Kathleen Marie (Dennis Lynch) LaRaia and Sharon Marie LaRaia as well as step-grandchildren; Nicole Ricciardi, Kevin James Wilk and Nicholas Anthony Wilk.

Friends are welcome to visit with Carolyn's family from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Friday, December 2, 2022 at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home, 305 Sixth Street, Traverse City, Michigan 49684.

A graveside service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 3, 2022 at Cleveland Township Cemetery, just south of M-22 on county road 669.
