Catherine 'Kay' Brown

TRAVERSE CITY — Catherine M. "Kay" Brown, 84, of Traverse City, died Monday morning, Aug. 15, 2011, at Munson Hospice House. Born on Aug. 24, 1926, in Northport, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Francis (Kitchen) Mikowski. On March 16, 1957, in Traverse City, she married the love of her life, George O. Brown. Their marriage of 54 years was filled with much laughter, love and great family times.Kay enjoyed working with her hands, crafting many projects, which were gifted in love to her family and friends. As a couple, the Browns always looked forward to traveling.She is survived by her husband, George O.Brown, of Traverse City; children, David Brown, of Traverse City, and Richard (Heatherbee) Brown, of Kingsley; siblings, Donald (Pat) Mikowski, Lawrence (Marilyn) Mikowski and George Mikowski, all of Traverse City; four grandchildren, Rachael, Cameron, Christopher and Carson; along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.In addition to her parents, Kay was also preceded in death by an infant brother, Basil Mikowski. Graveside services will be held at Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens on Friday, Aug. 19, 2011, at 1 p.m., with the Rev. Earl Carrier officiating.In remembrance of Kay, memorials may be directed to the Father Fred Foundation.
