Celia Jane Riegling

July 13, 1937 - November 17, 2021

Our Mom passed away on Wednesday, November 17, 2021 at 6:57 AM EST at Munson Medical Center (Rm 4034) in Traverse City, Michigan. She was 84 years old. She is survived by her loving husband and our dad, John Riegling, her eldest son Dan, of Ft. Wayne, IN, son Thomas of Flower Mound, TX, and daughter, Sarah Raines (Riegling), of Valparaiso, IN, and her four grandchildren, Abigail, Joel, Raleigh, and Averleigh. Also, her sisters Barbara Schaafsma, of Portage, MI, Rebecca Norton, of Grawn, MI and brother Michael (and Sharon) Norton, also of Grawn, MI. Mom was preceded in death by her parents, Audrey and Almond Norton, her sister, Elizabeth Anderson and son, David. Our Mom was truly wonderful. She loved Jesus with such an amazing love. It was contagious to all those she encountered. She loved the most well known Bible verse of all time, John 3:16. "For God so loved the world He gave His only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in Him shall not perish, but have everlasting life." It meant so much to her and every time she heard it (even the mention of the verse) her face would light up. She would smile so big as if she was looking into the face of Jesus. Maybe she was, I don't know. I do know she is now! My Mom knew exactly what to say without saying a word. She was fierce, brave, and the best prayer warrior I ever knew. The one aspect of our Mom I loved most was her faith. She didn't need to know all the answers and it didn't bother her. She knew one day she would and that time is here. Our Mom is with her Lord and with our brother, David. David passed away as the result of a car accident on November 14, 1967. Mom has waited so long to see him and now they are together! We miss you so much Mom! You made everything a little better every day. We love you and know we will be reunited soon. Services will be held on Thursday, December 16, 2021. Visitation will be at noon, followed by a Memorial Celebration of our Mom’s life at 1 PM. Refreshments will follow. This will take place at Bible Baptist Church in Traverse City, MI. The address is listed below: Bible Baptist Church 1915 Cass Rd. Traverse City, MI 49684 Ph: (231) 947-0660 All who knew Celia are welcome to attend, we will celebrate and remember her. In lieu of flowers we ask you to make a donation to either Bible Baptist Church, or New Hope church in Traverse City Michigan. Or if you prefer, a donation to your own affiliated church.
