Clarine Ruth Olson

September 27, 1932 - April 4, 2020

TRAVERSE CITY - Clarine Ruth Olson, 87, of Traverse City passed away at Munson Medical Center on Saturday April 4, 2020. She was born in Elk Rapids on September 27, 1932. She was proceeded in death by her parents Thelma and James Bunn, a brother Eldon Bunn, and son Steven Eikey. She was married to DeVere L. Eikey and Richard W. Olson, whom also proceeded her in death. She is survived by her brother Marvin Bunn and numerous nieces and nephews. Her surviving children are Gregory M. Eikey (Debra), Jill A. James and Penny M. Kroesing (Jeffery). She has twelve grandchildren; Erin Bruce (Quincey), Krisi Lane (Peter), Eric Eikey, Kollin Eikey (Jaime), Elaina Eikey (fiancé Will), Karson Eikey, Jaclyn Eikey, Brian Hafner, Katie Hafner-Fournet (Brad), Kelly Kehl (John), Andrea Thomas (Kyle) and Alex Kroesing (fiancé Bethany). She has nine great grandchildren. Harbor and Saylor Bruce, Lachlan Lane, Kate Eikey, Radley, Poppy, and Cosmo Hafner-Fournet, and Logan and Easton Thomas For anyone who knew Clarine her family was her light and legacy. She had such pride in all their accomplishments and treasured being a Mother, Grandma, Mimi and Great-Grandma. Clarine will be fondly remembered for her quick wit and storytelling, shy smile and youthful appearance and love for a good book. She surrounded herself with beautiful things such as classical music, fresh flowers, artwork and her treasured bunny collection. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren remember her for her love of board games and cribbage, and downtown visits shopping for toys and books, and holiday celebrations. Clarine expressed often that she lived a full, happy life with her family and friends as her focus. Clarine was a member of Central United Methodist Church, P.E.O., Traverse City Garden Club, Traverse City Golf and Country Club and Interlochen Center for the Arts. She held board positions with G.T.R Community Foundation and Munson Healthcare Foundation. She had a giving nature and supported the mission of many community charities. In her memory the family asks for gifts to be directed to: Wills & Memorials, In Memory of Clarine Olson, Central United Methodist Church, 222 Cass Street, Traverse City, Michigan 49684. To honor her life a service will be held at a future date and will be posted. Our family would like to express our sincere and heartfelt thanks to the Covid-19 staff at Munson Medical Center and Reynolds Jonkhoff Funeral Home for taking such wonderful care with Clarine. Their thoughtfulness and caring comforted us when we could not personally comfort her or each other. We are eternally grateful.
