Daniel James Taggart, 64, a resident of Lake Orion, MI, for 22 years, recently relocated to Traverse City, passed away peacefully on April 7th, in his home, surrounded by his loving family.
Dan was born on April 17, 1950, in Detroit, MI, to the late Floyd James and Miriam Alice (Phillips) Taggart. He married his middle school sweetheart, Wendy Sharpe, on a beautiful summer day, June 27, 1990, in Birmingham, MI.
Dan worked as a manufactures sales representative for the Lear Corporation for many years. He enjoyed golfing, boating, beaching, and spending time in Mackinaw. An accomplished musician, he wrote songs, played the guitar and co-founded the band Blackthorn. Dan will be remembered, most importantly, for his gentle soul and love for his family. He was a strong, kind man who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Surviving Dan is his wife, Wendy; children, Jane (Chad) Nicholson of Chicago, IL; Meghan Taggart of Glen Allen, VA; Victor Tucker of Traverse City; Bryan (Ashley) Taggart of Traverse City; grandchildren; Ella, Caleb, Addison, and Avery; siblings Pat (Lew Eads) Burke of Franklin, MI; Richie Taggart of Nebraska; Robert Minshull of Franklin, MI; his best friend, dog Mike and many other loving family members and friends.
Dan is preceded in death by his parents, sister, Linda Beaudoin, niece, Amy Beaudoin, and his beloved dogs, Maggie Mae and Luke.
Memorial Services will be held April 12 at 11 a.m. at Hilltop Log Lodge, 10811 E. Hilltop Road, Suttons Bay, 49682.
