David Francis Flees, 74, of Traverse City passed away January 13, 2024 at Munson Medical Center with his wife June, son Zach and family by his side.
David was born on October 4, 1949 in Traverse City to the late Edmund Charles and Mary Elizabeth (Winowiecki) Flees. He graduated from St. Francis High School in 1968.
David was a people person and he found his calling in the music industry. He proudly owned and operated Good News Music for 36 years before he retired. He would always let kids try out instruments they were interested in and he loved helping people. He loved music and played guitar in several bands including The Jaguars and Just Us.
David was also a life member of the Traverse City Elks Lodge # 323. He was quite the card shark and loved a good game of poker with his buddies. He also loved to play music with friends in his home studio. Faith was important to Dave throughout his life, most recently with Central United Methodist Church where he served as an usher and helped set up sound for Church in the Park.
He will be missed for his wonderful and unique sense of humor, the love he freely gave, and for his kind heart.
David was preceded in death by his twin brother Daniel; brother Jerry; and his son's mom, Denise May Flees.
David is survived by his wife M. June Flees; son Zachary Flees; stepson Aaron (Melissa) May; sisters Judi (George) Rokos and Jan (John) Lage; brother Ed Flees; sister-in-law Mary Flees; grandchildren Kaitlyn and Wyatt and several nieces and nephews.
The memorial service will be held on Tuesday, January 23, 2024 at 1:00 pm with visitation beginning at noon at Central United Methodist Church. Lunch will follow in the fellowship hall.
