Obituary

Deborah Ann Renaud-Buck, 54, of Holland and formerly of Traverse City, passed away peacefully at home with her children beside her on Sunday, April 12, 2020.

Deborah was born in February 1966 to Kenneth and Celia (Brigham) Renaud in Fort McClellan, AL. She graduated from Mancelona High School and continued her education at Grand Valley State University earning her Bachelor's Degree in Hospitality and Tourism Management, and later her Master's Degree in Early Childhood Education. She spent much of her teaching career working at Grand Traverse Academy as an educator in the classroom and as an Integrated Visual Learning instructor. She had a passion for working with children and helping them to succeed in their learning.

Debbie's interests were always connected to her home and family. She enjoyed game nights and movie nights. She loved being around animals, including her dog and cats, and even cockatiels, degus, and tropical fish. Whether it was camping experiences with her son or cheering on her daughter at a volleyball game, she devoted herself to her children and encouraged them to pursue their goals. Debbie had a passion for cooking, baking, and cake decorating, and was always planning the menu for the next family event.

Debbie also considered the members of Harvest Bible Chapel in Traverse City her "family." As a member, she was a frequent volunteer for hospitality and nursery needs and found great support through her care group. On one special Sunday, Debbie, both of her children, and her future daughter-in-law made public professions of faith as they were all baptized on the same day!

The strength, determination, and resilience of her character came to the forefront as Debbie waged a courageous two-year battle against brain cancer. When asked how she would like to be remembered, Debbie responded, "As someone who loved her family deeply, enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and didn't give up!"

Deborah is survived by her parents, Kenneth and Celia (Brigham) Renaud of Alden; sister, Susan Renaud of Mt. Pleasant; son David and his wife Ashley of Holland; her daughter Jennifer, also of Holland; her grandchildren Emily and Kenneth; along with many beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, and other extended family.

Burial will take place at Helena Township Cemetery. Due to the global circumstances, a graveside service will be held for immediate family, with a memorial celebration to honor her life announced at a later date.

For those desiring to remember Deborah through a memorial contribution, her wish was that funds would go towards the college education for her children c/o Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home, 305 Sixth Street, Traverse City, MI 49684.
