Traverse City-Edna E. Eveleigh, 87, of Traverse City, died Wednesday morning, June 19, 2013, at Munson Medical Center.

Born November 3, 1925 in Beachwood, she was the daughter of Jack V. and Mary (Hahkala) Williams. On June 16, 1947, at the First Presbyterian Church in Sault Saint Marie, she married Robert V. Eveleigh, who preceded her in death on February 11, 1985.

Edna graduated from Iron River High School at 16 years old and furthered her education by attending Northern Michigan College, where she received her teaching certificate. Her first teaching position was in Pickford, it was there where she met and married the love of her life, Robert.

She was a long time Senior Companion in Traverse City and a tutor with the Literacy Coalition while living in Lansing. She relished teaching others to read and had many students over the years.

She is survived by her loving and caring children, Frederick (Linda) Eveleigh of Rudyard, Robert (Mary) Eveleigh of Charlevoix, Randall Eveleigh of Oakland, CA, Patricia (Dennis) Heikkinen of Stephenson and Steven (Cindy) Eveleigh of Traverse City; ten grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and one sister, Mae Krivtz of Norridge, IL.

In addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by a son, Gerald Eveleigh and several siblings.

Memorial Services will be held at the First Congregational Church on Saturday, June 22, 2013, at 2:00 P.M. with Rev. Gary Hogue officiating.

Cremation has taken place.
