Edward J. Cherry

Edward J. Cherry, 88, of Maple City passed away October 17, 2018.

Ed was born on April 15, 1930 in Detroit to the late Edward and Madeleine (Fischer) Cherry.

Ed retired from AT&T. He also owned and operated an exotic pheasant farm in Maple City for nearly 30 years. He served on the Glen Lake School Board for 12 years. Ed also helped organize and was one of the first Scout Masters of the Glen Lake Boy Scouts.

He was a member of the Woodside Wesleyan Church in Lake Ann, the American Pheasant and Waterfowl Society and the Telephone Pioneers of America.

Ed was preceded in death by his first wife Cynthia (Noonan) Monroe and his second wife Madeleine Wilbur, parents, sister Elizabeth and daughter Melissa.

Ed is survived by his children Deborah McLeish, Dennis (Jean) Cherry, Steven (Barbara) Cherry, Dawn (Gary) Helms, Sharon Cherry, Linda (Rob) Henry, Irma (Rick) Kaminski, many grandchildren and great grandchildren; Madeleine's children Jean, Marilyn and Jerry; and brothers Clifton, William, Clark and Curtis.

The funeral celebrating Ed's life will be held on Monday October 22, 2018 at 11:00 am with visitation beginning one hour prior at Woodside Wesleyan Church in Lake Ann.

Interment will take place at a later date at St. Rita's cemetery in Kasson Township.

Memorial contributions may be directed to Heartland Hospice and Hospice of Michigan.
