Elaine Virginia Lampton, died on Saturday, January 11, 2020 in the care of her loving family in Traverse City. She was 93.
Elaine Virginia Etter was born on Friday, May 14, 1926 to parents Earl and Vera Etter (Townsend) in Detroit, and grew up in Center Line. During a train trip to Norfolk, VA during World War II she met Leonard "Larry" Lampton. Elaine and Larry were united in marriage on May 16, 1947 and together they celebrated 72 years of marriage and their sons Timothy and Michael "Mickey".
Alongside caring for her home, Elaine had many passions that included square dancing, a profound appreciation for books, and spending 25 years wintering in Mesa, AZ. She always enjoyed lunches with her friends and was an avid fan of the Detroit Lions and Phoenix Suns. Elaine will be remembered for her quick wit, infectious outlook on life, and the almost mischievous twinkle in her eye. Above all, Elaine was devoted to and deeply loved her family.
She is forever loved by her husband, Larry Lampton; sons, Mickey (Paula) Lampton and Timothy (Mary Jo) Lampton; grandchildren: Lawrence, Jerry, Lindsey, Jon, and Jessica; great-grandchildren, Elana and Brady.
Elaine was preceded in death by her parents and brother Earl.
In keeping with Elaine's wishes, cremation has been accorded and private services held.
