Elizabeth Mae (Harshman) Sheets, 94, of Interlochen, Michigan, formerly of Midland, MI, Pottstown PA and Tucson, AZ passed away in Traverse City, Michigan on April 24, 2020.
Betty was born on May 28, 1925 to Velma (Arnold) and Walter Harshman in Fort Wayne, Indiana. She graduated from North Side High School and attended Manchester College. On August 31, 1946 she was married to Warren J. Sheets and they shared 53 years together. Betty was active in church and community activities, including Friends of the Interlochen Public Library, Presbyterian Church of Traverse City, United Methodist Women and leadership roles with the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference of the United Methodist Church. During their winters in Tucson, AZ, Betty was involved with the Welcome Wagon, St Andrew's Presbyterian Church and adventures with friends from Dow and their local neighborhood.
Betty worked in a variety of positions as a bookkeeper and secretary and then supported Warren in those roles when he founded French Creek Products in Royersford, PA. Together, they were active with several civic and industrial organizations.
She is survived by four children, Stephen R. Sheets of Grand Haven, MI, Edyth (James) Wilson of Mount Horeb, WI, Gloria Fritz of Pottstown, PA and Margaret (Michael) Yeager of Elysburg, PA; five grandchildren, Diana (Wilson) Etmanczyk, Michael (Kibby) Wilson, Janelle Fritz, Thomas Yeager and Sarah Yeager, three great-grandchildren, Ashton and Ava Etmanczyk and Maren Wilson and her brother Ronald (Teri Williams) Harshman. She was preceded in death by her husband, Warren, her son, Warren James, her son-in-law, David Fritz, and 3 sisters, Ramona Kauffman, Eleanor Manes and Arlene Swaidner.
A memorial service will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Interlochen Public Library or the Presbyterian Church of Traverse City.
