Frances "Fran" King

December 21, 1935 - August 13, 2020

Frances King, 84, of Traverse City, completed her earthly accomplishments and joined her Lord on the evening of August 13, 2020. Fran was born in Leelanau County on December 21, 1935 to the late Thomas and Katherine (Skipski) Witkowski Sr. Since the very beginning Fran had a zest for life. She was always on the move, whether it would be in her gardens that she cared for so splendidly, spending time with family making memories at their cottage on Spider Lake, dancing faithfully with her husband guiding her to the polka at the Eagles, Cedar Polka Fest and other countless dance floors, or serving the community with her service side by side with her husband Glen who was involved with the Knights Of Columbus. She also loved playing a good hand of euchre, putting flower arrangements together and dressing up to various functions. Fran really was the woman that could do it all. Frances was a faithful member of Immaculate Conception Church for 63 years, volunteering her time as a parishioner to support the church in many different ways. She was the glue that held the family together and the silent strength that was needed for those who needed help. She will be forever missed by her family and many friends. Fran is survived and missed dearly by her husband Glen, her daughters Lyn Drzewiecki and Lori (David) McPherson, brothers Thomas P. (Barb) Witkowski and George (Laura) Witkowski, grandchildren; Casey (Martin) Baldwin, Katie (Mike Brady) Drzewiecki, Kristie (Paul) Scheidemantel and Joshua (Chelsea) King. Also surviving Fran are her great grandchildren; Miles, Ava, Alex, Leyna and Evie, sister-in-law Maxine as well as many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, her infant brother Thomas Jr., her sister Estella (James) White and her two brothers-in-laws Gene and Gary King. Visitation will take place on Thursday August 20, 2020 from 5-7pm at the Reynolds Jonkhoff Funeral Home with a rosary being prayed at 7:00pm. A mass of Christian burial will take place Friday August 21, 2020 at 11:00am at Immaculate Conception Church. Fran’s final resting place will be at the Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers the family wishes for you to consider contributions to Mass of Intentions or the Immaculate Conception Food Pantry. Fran and her family are being cared for by the Reynolds Jonkhoff Funeral Home.
