Geneva Hope Eby passed away on Tuesday, November 19, 2019 surrounded by family at Aurora Assisted Living. She was 93. Geneva Hope Bettis was born on February 13, 1926 in Deckerville, MI the daughter of Samuel and Beatrice (Campbell) Bettis. She grew up in Detroit and graduated from Cooley High School. On December 7, 1945 she married the love of her life Colburn “Pete” Eby. Together they shared 64 years of marriage and their children Gerald and Sandra. Alongside being a homemaker, Geneva avidly attended garage sales looking for great finds. She also enjoyed quilting, creating crafts, tending to her garden, researching genealogy, and collecting cookbooks. Geneva and Pete fondly traveled to U.S. Navy reunions across the United States. Geneva is forever loved by her children Gerald “Jerry” (Carrie) Eby and Sandra (Kenneth) McDermott, brother Robert Bettis, grandchildren Kenneth, Anna, Joseph, and Peter, great-grandchildren Tyler, Tony, John, and Elizabeth. She is preceded in death by her husband Pete, her parents, and brother William Bettis. A service for Geneva will be held in the spring and she will be laid to rest at Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens.
