Obituary

Traverse City – Geoffrey Allen Bak, 43, of Traverse City entered into eternal life on February 15, 2024.

The youngest of four children, Geoff was born on February 25, 1980 in Monroe, Michigan to Larry and Connie Bak. He grew up in Alpena and graduated from Alpena High School before attending Michigan State University where he earned his Bachelors degree in Hospitality Management. He attended Alpena Community College where he studied to become a Registered Nurse.

Geoff, also known as Geo by his professional colleagues, found his calling as a Cardio Thoracic ICU nurse working at Munson Medical Center and as a travel nurse on various assignments including on the Big Island of Hawaii. He served his patients with compassion and humor throughout his ICU and ER assignments.

In his free time, he loved the Traverse Area beaches, the Bay, and enjoyed snorkel diving with his cousins and friends in Elk Lake and at North Bar. He also enjoyed hanging out with his niece and nephew.

Geoff will be missed by his parents Larry and Connie Bak; sister Anne Bak Marine; brothers Michael and Rob; niece Amelia; nephew Alex; and numerous cousins, aunts and uncles who he delighted in making laugh whenever possible.

Visitation for family and friends will be held at Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home on Friday, March 1st beginning at 5pm with a rosary at 7pm followed by family sharing.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, March 2nd at St. Francis Catholic Church at 11am. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery on Old Mission Peninsula.

Memorial contributions in his honor may be directed to Addiction Treatment Services/Traverse City. Envelopes will be available at all services.
