Gerald "Jerry" Riss, 89, of Bear Lake passed away Wednesday, November 24, 2021 at Joy Givers Senior Home in Traverse City. Jerry was born on February 7, 1932 in Roseville, MI to the late Edmond and Margaret (Bach) Riss. He married Joan Delores Riss (nee Jozwik) on May 10,1965. A proud veteran of the U.S. Air Force, he served our country honorably while stationed in Greenland during the Korean War. Always ready for a cold brew, he gained employment and retirement from the Stroh's Brewery in Detroit. A lifelong Lions fan. A few of Jerry's multiple talents and hobbies include fisherman, expert woodworker, and painting various themes on stones collected from the shores of Lake Michigan. Always the life of the party. Jerry is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Joan. Nephew David (Tina) Witkowski. Nieces Kathy(Keith)Heitman, Sherry(Ken)Short, and many other loving family members and friends. Graveside service with full Military Honors at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly MI., will be held at a later date.
