WILLIAMSBURG - Geraldine “Gerry” Margaret Van Allen, 95, of Williamsburg passed away April 10, 2022 at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City with her family by her side. Gerry was born on April 12,1926 in Standish Michigan to the late Felix and Mary (Dubey) Guoan. She was known for her beautiful smile and will always be remembered for her incredible cooking and baking skills. Everything she made was delicious! Gerry was a very social person and enjoyed playing cards, dice games and bowling. Of course a trip to the casino was always a lot of fun. Faith was very important to Gerry, she was a parishioner of St. Francis Catholic Church. Her legacy will be her love of family and God. She was the proud mother of seven children, a beloved grandma to 24 grandchildren, 44 great grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. Gerry is survived by her children: Kathleen Curtis, Janet Sargent, Joyce Keysor, Linda (David) Sliwinski, Judy (Bill) Gustavson and Mary Jo Berger. Gerry was preceded in death by her first husband, Francis Derocher; second husband, Donald VanAllen; brother, Alfred Guoan; sister, Beatrice Palmer; son, Daniel Derocher; and son-n-law’s, Bill Curtis and Charles Sargent. A mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday, April 13, 2022 at 1 p.m. with visitation beginning at noon at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church located Traverse City, Michigan. Memorial contributions in her honor may be directed to St. Francis Catholic Church Building Fund or the American Cancer Society. A family graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, April 18, 2022 at Cedar Valley Cemetery in Turner, Michigan. The family would like to thank the staff at Bay Ridge, Samaritas and Munson Hospital for their kind and compassionate care.
