Traverse City – Gregory Edward Piaskowski entered into eternal life on Sunday, June 7, 2020 in the care of his loving family at Munson Hospice House in Traverse City. Greg was 76. Greg was one of three sons born to parents Joseph and Emilia Piaskowski (née Rakowski) on June 6, 1944, in Detroit, MI. He was raised alongside his brothers Gerald and Larry. Greg graduated from Wayne State University and earned his degree in geography. Afterwards, Greg honorably served in the U.S. Army for four years. On September 2, 1967 Greg was united in marriage to Darlene Palucki. Greg and Darlene were proud parents to their daughters Lynn and Audrey. Faith, family, and friends were of the utmost importance to Greg. He served as a role model to those who looked up to him with wisdom, giving spirit, and involvement with the community. Greg went on three separate trips to New Orleans to help build homes after Hurricane Katrina. Further, he volunteered his skills with woodworking to make toys for the Father Fred Foundation. His other involvement included: service as director of the Area Agency on Aging of Northwestern Michigan, Love INC., Women’s Resource Center, Senior Center, and the City of Traverse City Zoning Board of Appeals. Outside of his community involvement, Greg greatly enjoyed movies and travel. Above all, he was deeply devoted to and loved his family. Greg is forever loved by his daughters Audrey (Paul) Kalis and Lynn (Paul) Bennett, grandchildren Katherine Crewes, Zachary Crewes, and Christine Kalis, girlfriend Carol Sermon, brother Gerald (Delphine) Piaskowksi, nephews Jason Piaskowski and Joel Piaskowski, and many friends. He is preceded in death by his wife Darlene, parents, brother Larry Piaskowski, and sister-in-law Darlene Piaskowski. Those wishing to make gifts of remembrance are asked to consider Love INC., Traverse City and the Father Fred Foundation. Share a memory of Greg at www.reynolds-jonkhoff.com.
